Ellen Czaika
During her doctoral studies at MIT, Ellen led two research projects. Her dissertation research projects investigated how mathematical models are used in sustainability negotiations and decisions, with a particular focus on protecting the environment and enhancing wellbeing in an economically viable manner. One research project is contextualized within a commercial supply chain redesigning its waste system for increased sustainability and the other research project is contextualized within a governmental decision for redesigning national infrastructure to be more sustainable. In both of these studies, she found evidence to suggest that models can lead to better outcomes.
