Ambient Intelligence: Convergence of Radio Signals & Machine Learning

This research proposes a novel system that passively monitors health at home while the patients go about their normal life. Our design is based on a non-obtrusive wireless device that sits in the background at home, much like a WiFi router. It analyses the radio signals that bounce off people’s bodies using new algorithms and machine learning models to infer vital signs, motor symptoms, sleep and response to medications — and it does it all in a touchless manner without asking people to wear sensors, or incur any burden.
