Abdullah Almuhaimeed, Ph.D.
Abdullah Nasser Almuhaimeed is an Expert Researcher (Associate Research Professor) in computer science at King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST). He holds an MSc and PhD in Computer Science from the University of Essex, UK (2011 and 2016, respectively) and a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from Imam Muhammad Ibn Saud Islamic University (2007).
His research interests span a wide range of topics in computer science, including semantic techniques, artificial intelligence, data science, ontologies, big data, machine learning, deep learning, recommendation systems, sentiment analysis, natural language processing, information retrieval, fuzzy logic, and bioinformatics.
Over the years, he has led and contributed to several projects, such as the Back-Office Management System, Arabian Camel Genome System, IT Social Network based on Test-Driven Web Development with MVC in JSP, and Enhancing Recommendations in Specialist Search through Semantic-Based Techniques and Multiple Resources. Currently, he is actively involved in projects related to infectious diseases, sentiment analysis, and the development of a smart compass.
In 2019, Dr. Almuhaimeed worked as a full-time advisor on Artificial Intelligence and Data Science in a governmental sector as a secondment employee. During this period, he played a key role in establishing the Centre for Decision Support and Artificial Intelligence (DSAI). Additionally, he has been a member of several internal and external committees and has served as a reviewer for awards in the private sector.
He is also an active reviewer and former editorial board member for several high-impact journals and conferences, including Expert Systems with Applications, PLOS One, Computer and Industrial Engineering, IEEE Transactions on Medical Imaging, IEEE Access, Scientific Reports and multiple MDPI journals such as Applied Sciences, International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health, Sensors, Electronics, Healthcare, Diagnostics and Sustainability. He has also contributed to Applied Soft Computing, Computers in Biology and Medicine, Cognitive Computation and The International Conference on Emerging Trends in Computing and Engineering Applications (ETCEA2022).
Moreover, he has mentored and supervised developers within his institute and has provided training for university students over the years. His publications reflect his research interests, covering several of the topics mentioned above.
