Anuradha Annaswamy is the Founder and Director of the Active-Adaptive Control Laboratory at MIT’s Department of Mechanical Engineering. Her research focuses on adaptive control theory and its applications in aerospace, automotive, energy systems, and cyber-physical systems such as Smart Grids and Smart Cities. She has received numerous honors, including best paper awards from IEEE Control Systems Society (CSS) and the IFAC journal Annual Reviews in Control, the IEEE CSS Control Systems Technology Award, a Presidential Young Investigator award from NSF, and the Distinguished Alumni award from the Indian Institute of Science.
Dr. Annaswamy has authored a textbook on adaptive control and coauthor of two studies conducted by the US National Academy of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine. She served as President of CSS in 2020 and is currently a Faculty Lead at MIT’s Future Energy Systems Center. She is the Editor-in-Chief of IEEE Control Systems magazine and is President-elect of the American Automatic Control Council.
