The Smart Data project was dedicated to making deployments of data scientists, data driven models, and machine learning (ML) workflows simple, portable and scalable. Our goal was not to recreate other services, but to provide a straightforward way to deploy best-of-breed opensource systems for ML to diverse infrastructures. The project had two goals — first, to help city managers analyze trend data and engage in predictive problem-solving, and second, to share the platform with cities that cannot build the capacity themselves. All software developed on this project is be open source.
